The nearly 3-kilometer (2 mile) depths and the 40-kilometer (25 miles) circumference of the Bay of Banderas make some of the best deep sea fishing in the world. There are dozens of fishing charters available for marlin, dorado, and sailfish. Spend a day out on the water and explore fishing spots with an experienced captain. |
Dolphin Adventure

La Tovara
A favorite bird watching attraction is the jungle trip to the springs of La Tovara via motorized dugout. The boats pass through swampy lagoons and dense mangrove forests inhabited by herons, egrets, turtles, lizards and fish. Some 300 bird species have been identified in this area. The spring itself forms a cool freshwater pool where visitors can enjoy a swim. |
Marietas Islands Wildlife Reserve
Off the tip of Punta Mita, the rocky architecture of the islands provides a sanctuary for a complex marine ecosystem, including dolphins, sea turtles and giant rnanta rays. Visitors may choose from kayaking, snorkeling or scuba diving in the crystal clear waters.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Trips
Boat trips are available to a number of dive sites, all rich with marine life of the Bay of Banderas. Las Marietas, Las Caletas, El Morro, Los Acros and Corbenta all host a variety of marine life including lobsters, mantas, dolphins, turtles and schooling fish. Dive trips are customized to the wishes and experience levels of the interested divers. |
Whale Watching From December to March, the mighty humpback whales make their annual migration, passing through Banderas Bay. Their playful behavior is an amazing display of grace, power and beauty. |
